Health units now require multilevel management so as to ensure adequate planning of the organization, its infrastructures, human and material resources, and ongoing evaluation and control. Since health management is an increasingly demanding task, it is necessary to assign the management of services to professionals with demonstrated knowledge and skills, in order to make them increasingly effective and efficient. Decree-Law no. 248/2009 of September 22 determines, as a requirement for the exercise of managerial functions, the frequency of training in management and administration of health services. In this context, and considering the need for greater professionalism of the management staff.
In this context, in view of the current context, the ESSV proposed to organize the Postgraduate Course in Management and Administration of Health Services (CPGGASS), in order to provide complementary training in the area of health management.
The organization of the Course is in accordance with Regulation No 348/2008 of July 1, which establishes the principles governing the application of the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) to the training provided by the Polytechnic Institute of Viseu (IPV).
The course aims to qualify for the management of health services, namely hospitals, clinics, health centers, research and development centers, health care companies and other health units, in order to meet their needs.
Its main objective is to acquire and develop management skills in health professionals with roles and responsibilities in the area. To this end, it is recommended the systematic confrontation of principles and models that have characterized the management of health organizations, given the new conceptions and uncertainties of the world today.
