The creation of the Post-gradution Course in Educational and Clinical Supervision results from questions about initial training and lifelong training of professionals, taking into account the current contexts of change in a perspective of continuous improvement of the quality of care. The complex nature underlying the pedagogical dynamics justifies the completion of postgraduate courses that promote the construction, diffusion and application of knowledge in this area. It is recommended the valuation of the self-formation emphasizing the reflection on and in the action. Educational and Clinical Supervision is essential, in order to ensure a solid path in the way of teaching quality and professional practice. The Educational and Clinical Supervision of students is today understood as a process in which a teacher or experienced professional supports, guides and advises a trainee in the construction of his knowledge, taking into account the ecology of situations. A clinical supervisor who is not prepared or insufficiently prepared to perform the function can project his needs, doubts and uncertainties into the supervised ones. In this sense, in order to be a clinical supervisor, the professional needs specific training in the area of supervision and support for its development, since the actors, supervisor and supervised, continue themselves in an evolutionary process.
The organization of the Course is in accordance with Regulation No 348/2008 of July 1, which establishes the principles governing the application of the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) to the training provided by the Polytechnic Institute of Viseu (IPV).
The Post-graduation Course in Educational and Clinical Supervision aims at ensuring the acquisition of scientific, technical, relational and ethical skills, adequate to the dynamics of the Teaching / Learning process. In this sense:
To aim the commitment of the training in a constructivist perspective in the development of the teaching-learning process;
To increase opportunities for problem-situation resolution that promote the exercise of a discretionary judgment;
To promote the reflection based on real situations encountered during the training in clinical practice, potentializing the development of competences;
Understanding evaluation in an approach to learning as dialectical growth;
Understand the dialogic relationship between theory and practice, in an investigative perspective and in a logic of intentionality, experiencing, interdisciplinary methodologies of problem solving, understanding of dynamics and creative activities.

You can apply for access to the Post-gradution Course in Educational and Clinical Supervision :
a) Holders of a degree in the area of Health or Social Sciences, or legal equivalent;
b) Holders of a foreign higher education degree in the field of Health conferred following a 1st cycle of studies organized according to the principles of the Bologna Process by a State adhering to this Process;
c) Holders of a foreign higher education degree in the area of Health that is recognized as satisfying the objectives of the degree of licenciado by the scientifically competent scientific body of the higher education institution where they wish to be admitted;
d) Holders of a school, scientific or professional curriculum of relevance in the area of health, which is recognized as attesting ability to carry out this cycle of studies by the scientific body competent statutorily of the higher education institution where they wish to be admitted.
