Master’s Degree in Child Health Nursing and Pediatrics

Course presentation

The Child Health and Pediatrics Nursing Course, master’s degree, is registered with the Directorate-General for Higher Education on October 10, 2017 under number R / A-Cr 25/2010 / AL01. The A3ES process is ACEF / 1516/0900642 and has been accredited for 6 years. The curricular structure and study plan were published in Dispatch (extract) No. 9434/2017 of the Diário da República, 2nd series No. 206 of October 25, 2017.
The course lasts 18 months with 90 European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). The structure of the course consists of theoretical, theoretical-practical components, seminars, internships and tutorial guidance. It works during the day, and some activities, namely, the internships take place at night, on weekends and on public holidays.

Goals

The general objectives of the course are the following (DUBLIN Descriptors):
Deepen technical-scientific, relational, professional, ethical and legal knowledge and skills in the areas of child health nursing and pediatrics based on the knowledge of the 1st cycle;
Possess comprehension skills that form the basis for the development and / or original applications, namely in the context of research;
Knowing how to apply knowledge and develop the ability to understand and solve problems in new and unfamiliar situations in multidisciplinary contexts;
Integrate knowledge to manage complex situations and develop solutions / reflections or make judgments in situations of limited or incomplete information;
To have a reflective practice on the ethical, legal and social professional implications and responsibilities that result or condition the solutions and judgments formulated in the practice situations;
Communicate their conclusions, knowledge and reasoning behind them, within the team including the child and family in a clear and unambiguous way;
Develop self-knowledge in a self-oriented or autonomous way.

Access conditions

They can apply for the study cycle (under the terms of article 17 of Decree-Law no. 74/2006, dated March 24, republished by Decree-Law no. 65/2018, of August 16 ):
a) Holders of the degree of licenciado or legal equivalent;
b) Holders of a foreign higher academic degree conferred following a 1st cycle of studies organized according to the principles of the Bologna Process by a State adhering to this Process;
c) Holders of a foreign higher academic degree that is recognized as satisfying the objectives of the degree of licenciado by the scientific body competent of the higher education institution where they wish to be admitted;
d) Holders of a school, scientific or professional curriculum that is recognized as attesting to the capacity to carry out this cycle of studies by the scientific body that is legally competent in the higher education institution where they wish to be admitted.
